EDGE/GPRS in Linux

Today me(lavluda) && salahuddin66 successfully configured GPRS/EDGE of Grameen Phone and Aktel in Linux.

to check your mobile as a modem

here is a sample of my wvdial.conf (Grameen Phone EDGE/GPRS)

[Dialer Defaults]
Init1 = ATZ
Init2 = ATQ0 V1 E1 S0=0 &C1 &D2 +FCLASS=0
Init3 = AT+CGDCONT=1,”IP”,”gpinternet”
Modem Type = Analog Modem
ISDN = 0
Phone = *99***1#
Modem = /dev/ttyUSB0
Username = xyz
Password = xyz
Baud = 115200
———————————————————–
change the modem speed/Baud and /dev/ttyUSB0 according to your mobile phone

Aktel

Start
To start type wvdial in shell

    razu, where u r trying to use aktel gprs?? windows or linux ??
    if linux, u can use pon or wvdial
    install wvdial or pon.

    how can i install my EDGE modem in fedora.i want to install fedora core-1. Is it install autometically when i install FC-1?and if it is install then i just change default wvdial conf file same as urs.I am using GP internet.and my MOdem is EDGE 610U purchange from Anik Telecom.waiting for early reply.

    Lavlu Bhai,

    I want to use siemens c70 as a gprs modem (TeleTalk) in my laptop compaq evo n620c. How do i setup in Fedora 8 . Is this same way to setup which u describe previous in ubuntu.? Please help me.
